The 10 Employee Engagement Pillars

The 10 Engagement Pillars are ten strategically designed metrics that make up the Organizational Climate pillar, helping you understand how your team is doing in various aspects. They include:

Relationship with direct manager
Alignment
Personal Growth
Satisfaction
Peer relationship
Ambassadorship
Wellness
Happiness
Recognition
Feedback

It’s important to emphasize that all 10 Pillars are interconnected, meaning that the development of one can influence the development of others to varying degrees. This degree of influence differs from group to group, depending on each group’s behavioral profile. You can view the correlation between the 10 Pillars for each group in the “Level of correlation with other pillars” section.

The key takeaway here is that the 10 Pillars should not be analyzed solely on an individual or isolated basis, because focusing on improving one may inadvertently impact others negatively. Think of the 10 Pillars as ingredients in a recipe; alone, they don’t create the “magic.”

Let’s now explore how the data that informs these metrics is collected.

The 10 Pillars are based on quantitative research. What does this mean? It means our focus here is on identifying trends through patterns, so we aim to work with a significant volume of responses.

The survey sent to employees, whether weekly or biweekly—depending on the option selected in the account—utilizes five different question formats:

Likert Scale

Two-way sliding opinion scale

Scale from 0 to 10

Star rating

Single-choice multiple selection

The survey is designed with playful elements, a touch of humor, and a dynamic format to keep it engaging and prevent it from becoming tedious for respondents. This approach helps improve concentration and the quality of responses.

In each survey, 5 questions related to Organizational Climate and 1 question related to Organizational Culture behaviors are sent to be answered by each registered user. It takes less than a minute to complete. A significant point is that the questions vary from survey to survey to avoid monotony. There are over 100 questions that collectively cover the 10 Engagement Pillars. To learn more about how the Engagement Survey works, we recommend accessing the explanatory material "Everything You Need to Know About the Surveys."

Now, let’s understand how the scores for each of the 10 Pillars are classified based on the survey responses. We use three categories:

Score >= 0 and < 5 (red color) indicates a low score that needs your attention.
Score >= 5 and < 7 (yellow color) indicates a medium score that can be improved.
Score >= 7 and <= 10 (green color) indicates a good score that now needs to be maintained.
