Progress Steps Model

The Progress Steps model simplifies how progress is calculated by using fixed values instead of continuous calculations. It's similar to the interpolated model but with a key difference: there are no intermediate values between the bands. This helps prevent distortions and makes evaluation clearer and fairer.

How it Works

Instead of calculating exact progress based on the actual achieved value, the model uses "fixed bands" to indicate how much has been accomplished. The standard progress values are:

  • 0% → When the actual achieved value is below the sub-target
  • 80% → When the actual achieved value is between the sub-target and the target
  • 100% → When the actual achieved value is between the target and the super-target
  • 120% → When the actual achieved value reaches or exceeds the super-target

Full Cycle

In this model, we use the sub-target, target, and super-target values defined for the cycle as a whole. See the example:

  • Sub-target: 10
  • Target: 20
  • Super-target: 25

Examples:

  • If the actual achieved value is 14, it's between the sub-target and target → Progress: 80%
  • If the actual achieved value is 23, it's between the target and super-target → Progress: 100%
  • If the actual achieved value is 26, it's past the super-target → Progress: 120%
This model limits maximum progress to 120% to avoid distortions in targets and bonuses.

Progress to Date (Month-by-Month)

Here, the logic is the same, but it considers the planned and actual values for the current month. The system calculates proportional targets for the month based on the cycle's sub-target and super-target.

Example:

  • Planned: 5
  • Proportional Sub-target: 2.5
  • Target: 5 (the planned value itself)
  • Proportional Super-target: 7.5
  • Actual: 7 → Since the actual value (7) is between the target and super-target, the month's progress is 100%.

What if there's no sub-target or super-target?

  • No sub-target: only the 0%, 100%, and 120% steps exist.
  • No super-target: only the 0%, 80%, and 100% steps exist.
